Gloomy Goddess

"Did it really happen? Was it real at all? All I knew when I woke upon that cursed morning was that I felt cold, a deep numbness sinking icy tendrils into my bones in spite of the dreaded summer raging outside. Dreams are where we live forever like the fabled gods of our ancestors. An entire life I had lived and lost that night, and birthed another which now echoed against the cusp of madness. But I had indeed awoken, like so many wasted days before and yet like no other.

Was it real at all – the question had become immaterial. She had saved me…and I perhaps her."
